This screen allows you to analyse the position set on the Chess Board. The current ChessLab's analyser is a strong Russian chess engine Sever, that is still under development.
Screen fields
Analysis time
This option sets the length of analysis performed for a position (default: "standard").
Analyse button
By pressing this button you start the analysis. "Wait a little" text mesage appears in the "suggested move" field for all time when the analyser is thinking. Please, do not press "analyse" button several times in a row.
Suggested move
After the analyser finishes its work, it sets this field with the best move found. It will not necessarily correspond to the first move(s) in the variations, placed below. When the analyzer selects the "suggested move", it takes into account the depth of analysis. Usually it corresponds to the best numeric evaluation. The deeper analysis, however, can find other possibilities which can lower the total numeric evaluation for a variation.
"Play it" button
This button will play the suggested move on the Chess Board.
Variation table
This table will contain either the result of the analysis or the moves taken from standard opening base.
"«" button
This button will allow you to play the moves of the variation ( move by move) on the Chess Board.
Score
This is the evaluation of the current position, made by the analyser. This evaluation is made for the side whose turn it was to move before the analyser started thinking. Positive evaluation numbers are better, negative - worse. The numeric scale of the analysis score is between -100 to +100.
Variations
The chess analyser returns one or more possible variations. To play the moves of the chosen variation, press "«" button in the left column.
